This mechanical pencil telescopes out from its case by pulling on a caste ring slide. It has a chamber for spare leads. The finial unscrews to open the chamber. It has an inset bloodstone mounted in the finial. The shell or outer ornamental covering has a chased scrolled pattern. It is stamped S Mordan & Co. The firm Sampson Mordan & Co. specialised in sterling silver mechanical pencils and pens and was in business in London from 1815 to 1941. It is in excellent condition with no damage and slides well.
