Tuscan China Nursery Rhyme Cup and Saucer
This bone china cup and saucer are decorated with the nursery rhyme "Sing a Song of Sixpence". It features an illustration of a King and Queen opening a pie full of blackbirds, with several of the birds standing on the table. The cup and saucer are edged in bright gilt on the rims and the handle also has a touch of gilt. The rhyme on the cup and saucer reads "Sing a song of sixpence, pocket full of rye, four and twenty blackbirds, baked in a pie. When the pie was opened, birds began to sing, Oh what a dainty dish, to set before the king." They are in mint condition and ring true when tapped. Measurements: Height cup – 2 ½ inches (6.5 cm): Diameter top cup – 2 ¾ inches (7 cm): Diameter saucer – 5 ½ inches (14 cm).
