Royal Doulton Gallant Fishers Miniature Vase

This earthenware miniature vase is decorated with a series ware pattern titled Gallant Fishers. The series is based on scenes from the Compleat Angler by Izaak Walton, first published in 1653 The vase is square at the top and has a scene on four sides. These feature four different fishermen, one with a wooden leg. The top has a willow tree border. The series was designed by CJ Noke and this vase has his facsimile signature on one corner. It has the Royal Doulton backstamp. This design was introduced in 1901 and withdrawn by the 1940s. It is in excellent condition with no damage and rings very well.
Measurements: Height - 2 inches (5 cm): Width top – 1 1/2 inches (4 cm).
