Royal Winton Furnese Jug
This earthenware jug is decorated with a pattern titled "Fernese". It features a dainty pale blue and white allover design of fern leaves and several butterflies scattered here and there. It also has a black and white band around the inside rim and another on the outside 2 ½ cm from the top. The top edge is outlined in bright gilt as is the handle and the base rim. The jug has a Grimwades Ltd backstamp and Royal Winton plus Furnese printed above. The backstamp indicates that it was manufactured in the 1920s. It also has a pattern number 8786. There are two tiny dark spots on the base inside the jug. Apart from this it is in excellent condition with no damage and rings true when tapped. Measurements: Height – 5 ¾ inches (14 cm): Length top handle to spout – 5 inches (12.5 cm): Width base – 2 ¾ inches (7 cm).
