French Silver Manche a Gigot
A kind viewer has told us that this dainty French silver piece is called a "manche a gigot" used as a lamb bone holder. It has an embossed handle. The bone of the lamb cutlet is inserted between the two prongs and the key is then turned to tighten their grip on the bone. A small hallmark of a man's head can be seen at the base of the handle. It is in excellent condition with no damage. Measurements: Length – 3 ¾ inches (10 cm): Weight – 1 oz. (25 gm). (The thimble is to indicate size).
