Mabel Lucie Attwell Fairy Folk Mug

This fine bone china mug is decorated with a delightful scene by the well-known illustrator of children's books, Mabel Lucie Attwell. It features a little girl and boy riding a bicycle together with two boo-boos (elves). The facsimile signature for Mabel Lucie Attwell is seen just below the front wheel . The printed verse reads "Look at the fairies, how fast they can fly. But they cannot catch up, as we flash by". The rim of the cup is trimmed with bright orange enamel as is the handle. The backstamp indicates that the piece was manufactured between 1945 and 1966. It is in excellent condition with no damage and rings true when tapped.
Measurements: Height – 2 ¾ inches (7 cm): Diameter top – 3 inches (7.5 cm).
