Masons Exotic Birds Plate
This earthenware Mason’s place is decorated with exotic birds and flowers in Imari colours. It has a scalloped edge. The plate is pictured in "Godden's Guide to Masons China and Ironstone Wares” on page 248 and colour plate 50. The backstamp for our piece is earlier indicating manufacture between 1813 and 1825. The surface of the plate has some utensil marks which can only be seen when held to the light. Otherwise it is in very good condition and rings very well. Measurements: Diameter – 10 inches (25.5 cm).
