Wedgwood Duck and Drake Rack Plate
This earthenware rack plate is decorated with a delightful illustration of a Drake on the bank of a stream watching a Duck and her five Ducklings paddling in the water. There is a farmhouse and barn with trees in the background. The plate is painted in rich autumn tonings with a border of leaves and flowers. There is a printed mark Wedgwood, Etruria, England on the base which dates it to between 1891 and 1910. There is also an impressed Wedgwood mark with a P underneath. There are the impressed initials GTI, a written pattern number A4689 and another P under that. The plate is certainly well marked. It is in very good condition. It does have some light glaze crazing and there is a tiny firing mark on the edge of the rim at 6 o’clock. It rings well when tapped. Measurements: Diameter – 10 ¼ inches (26 cm).
