Masons Double Landscape Ironstone Plate
This ironstone plate is decorated with a striking pattern titled Double Landscape. The colours are vibrant. It has a dark green and gilt background with colourful floral patterns around the rim. In the centre of the plate are two square panels and these are decorated with chinoiserie scenes highlighted with bright enamel. There is an impressed mark for Ashworth Real Ironstone China (see Article Masons), a backstamp used between 1862 and 1891 and a pattern number 4/103. An identical plate is illustrated in Geoffrey Godden's book Masons China and the Ironstone Wares on Page 132, Plate 147. There are a couple of small firing marks on the edge of the rim at 6 o'clock. Otherwise it is in very good condition and rings very well. Measurements: Diameter - 10 inches (25 cm): Weight - 24 oz (670 gm).
