Masons Double Landscape Ironstone Rimmed Bowl
This Ironstone China rimmed bowl is decorated with a striking pattern referred to as Double Landscape. The colours are vibrant. It has a cobalt blue background with colourful floral patterns around a 4 cm wide border. There are chinoiserie scenes on two square panels in the centre of the bowl which are highlighted with bright enamel. The piece is virtually identical to a plate photographed on page 132 in Geoffrey Goddens' Masons China and the Ironstone Wares. The addition of England to the backstamp dates the bowl to after 1891. There is also an impressed number which appears to be N12. There is a 5 mm rough spot on the edge at 12 o'clock. Otherwise it is in excellent condition and rings very well. Measurements: Diameter - 10 1/2 inches (26 cm): Height - 1 1/2 inches (4 cm); Weight - 20 oz (600 gm).
