Charles Horner Silver Shell Pattern Thimble Size 10

This Charles Horner Dorcas brand thimble has the shell pattern. It was manufactured with a steel core to prevent puncture from needles. Although this was covered inside and out with heavy silver, the presence of the steel core prevented the company from being able to use the traditional sterling silver hallmarks. Instead it is marked with the manufacturers initials CH, Dorcas and the size number 10. Patents and registration numbers were dropped after 1905 when this thimble was made. It is in excellent condition with no damage.
