Mabel Lucie Attwell Blue Bird Plate

This delightful plate is decorated with an illustration by the well-known children's artist Mabel Lucie Attwell. It features a girl and puppy with six blue birds. A verse printed on the rim of the bowl reads "Little Blue Bird, how he sings, So happy on my plates and things ". It has the Mabel Lucie Attwell facsimile signature under a basket of flowers. The rim is outlined in pale blue enamel. The backstamp was used after 1945. The plate is in mint condition and rings true when tapped. It is pleasing to find a piece of Mabel Lucie Attwell in such perfect condition.
