Two Asprey Scissors
These two scissors are of different sizes. The smaller scissors have very pointed blades and were presumably used for embroidery while the larger pair would have been used for ordinary sewing. Both pairs cut very well. The blades on both pairs have few minor discoloured spots. Each is marked Asprey 166 Bond St at the base of one blade. The Asprey firm was founded in South London in 1781. The family expanded the business and moved to premises in New Bond St. London in 1847 which it still occupies. Measurements: Length larger - 4 1/2 inches (11 cm): Length smaller - 3 3/4 inches (9.5 cm): Weight both - 1 oz (30 gm).
