Royal Doulton Anne Anderson Nursery Rhyme Beaker
This earthenware beaker is decorated with a nursery rhyme "Simple Simon Went a-fishing". On one side of the beaker it features Simon seated on a tall stool holding a fishing rod that he places in a bucket. A young girl and a dog look on. On the other side, it features Jack and Jill with a pail of water. The words “Simple Simon, Went a-fishing” are written around the top of the beaker. This series is illustrated in the style of Anne Anderson and was introduced in 1916 and withdrawn by 1940. The date number 12 indicates that it was manufactured in 1939. It is in mint condition with no damage and rings very well. Measurements: Height – 4 inches (10 cm): Diameter top – 3 ½ inches (8.5 cm).
